Role Overview:

As Deputy Head of Estate Services, you'll be responsible for managing the estate’s operations and delivering a range of facilities services, from planned maintenance to project delivery. You’ll lead the implementation of an IT systems change programme and ensure the property’s assets are well-maintained, legal requirements are met, and the highest standards of safety and presentation are maintained. You’ll also work closely with a passionate and collaborative team to help drive vision.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership: Oversee the Estate Services team, including Maintenance Supervisors, Soft Services Manager, and the Helpdesk Coordinator, ensuring a high level of service across all functions.

• Service Delivery: Manage both hard and soft services to meet the needs of our visitors and internal stakeholders, supporting a wide range of events and maintenance programmes.

• Project Management: Take charge of development and refurbishment projects under £100k, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

• Compliance & Safety: Ensure legal compliance across the estate, including statutory maintenance, health and safety regulations, fire risk assessments, water, and asbestos management.

• Sustainability: Monitor and reduce resource consumption and carbon emissions, helping Leeds Castle reach its goal of Net Zero.

• Strategic Planning: Lead and support key projects, including the ongoing change programme to improve IT systems and compliance standards.

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience: At least 3 years in a senior facilities or estate management role, with a strong background in both hard and soft services, PPM, and project management.

• Leadership Skills: Proven experience managing teams, setting objectives, and ensuring high performance.

• Technical Knowledge: A solid understanding of estate maintenance, statutory compliance, and the complexities of managing a listed heritage site.

• Budget Management: Demonstrable experience in managing budgets, particularly within a charitable or heritage setting.

• Environmental Sustainability: Knowledge of carbon reduction and sustainability practices, with a passion for preserving heritage for future generations.
