Background

With a staff of approximately 145 individuals, the RSM operates from its headquarters at 1 Wimpole Street, London. The premises host various facilities, including education and conference spaces, a library, a 47-bedroom hotel, and staff offices.
The Challenge
We recently partnered with the Royal Society of Medicine (RSM) to fill the critical role of Head of Property and Facilities. This key position demanded a seasoned professional capable of managing the extensive property portfolio of the RSM, located at 1 Wimpole Street, London W1, while upholding the organisation's commitment to excellence in healthcare learning and innovation.
The Head of Property and Facilities oversees all aspects of property management, facilities, health and safety, and security at the RSM's headquarters. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the smooth operation of the facilities, which are in use around the clock.
The ideal candidate needed to possess a blend of qualifications, knowledge, and experience in property maintenance, facilities management, and statutory compliance. With at least ten years of experience in hospitality construction and refurbishment projects, along with project management qualifications, the Head of Property and Facilities is well-equipped to lead and manage complex projects.
In addition, the successful candidate had to align with the RSM's values, prioritizing respect, investment in people, continuous improvement, listening, collaboration, and delivering results. Adherence to health and safety regulations, GDPR compliance, and the RSM's people policies and Code of Conduct are also paramount.
